Teachers create lesson plans each week that lists:
* What thematic topic and content will be covered
* The books that will be read
* The pictures that are to be used
* The songs that will be sung
* The activities and the games will be played
* The art and craft activities that will be created.
Newsletters are sent home each week to inform parents what the children are learning in order to reinforce learning at home.
Children’s Activities
Circle Times: Children participate in short circle times throughout the day. This is an opportunity for them participate in teacher directed activities and learning.
Learning Centers: Children also participate in a wide variety of play centers each day. The teacher assists the children in learning “how” to play with the various toys and facilitates children’s interactions. The schedule balances teacher-directed with child-directed activities throughout the day. Children have opportunities to explore open ended activities such as rice, water, play dough, blocks, dress up, kitchen and a variety of manipulative toys.
Playground: Children go outside on their playground in the morning and afternoon. There are a variety of play structures for them to climb, slide, crawl through, and ride. In the summer they have “Water Day” and extra activities are added for the children’s enjoyment.
Naptime: Children nap or rest on individual mats each day. Children are not required to sleep, but they are required to be quiet so as not to wake the other children. (Children are not allowed to arrive during naptime to prevent them from waking the other children.) They may bring a small blanket and stuffed animal to sleep with if they prefer.
