Conscious Discipline is a self-regulation program that integrates social-emotional learning, school culture and discipline. It helps teachers and administrators build schools based on safety, connection and problem solving instead of on rewards or punishments. It is based on brain research that shows how our internal states dictate our behavior. It’s goal is to provide positive changes in schools by building on the emotional intelligence of teachers first and children second. One main facets is to help children learn self-control and to regulate their own behavior. Simply put, as we become more emotionally intelligent, we are better equipped to create positive, healthy classrooms that help children learn at optimal levels.
